I wanted to try something new & daring so I took the tube of red poster colour & turned my hair into this! *points below*
BUT.... I really liked how it turned out and I certainly gave quite a shock to my family & friends. Each time they look at me, their face will have big bold words written on their face "WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING MAY!!"
I like lah, cannot is it? hehehehehheeheh...

A few weeks later.. Probably one month plus, the red faded slowly to this!! *points below* I was expecting the colour to fade within a week but nope, it took one month to fade. Happy but not so happy at the same time. Don't want it to fadeeeeee~~

Okay, so it turns out like this. Not sure if its suppose to look like this or not but, OH WELL. My sisters, boyfriend and I were fighting to finish the remainings of this so, you can guess how good it taste la. HAHAHA super proud, my head is floating on the kitchen ceiling :p

I was bored, assignment deadlines are like 2 days away and I dunno what made me browse tru some random recipes. ~~Procrastinating much?~~ Anyhow, I followed this recipe from http://www.foodnetwork.com :)

Heres the recipe. Give it a try! I loved mine :)

Strawberry Shortcake Recipe

Ingredients

1 1/2 pounds strawberries, stemmed and quartered
5 tablespoons sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoons sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
Whipped Cream, recipe follows

Directions

Mix strawberries with 3 tablespoons sugar and refrigerate while juices develop, at least 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, remaining 2 tablespoons sugar, and salt in a medium bowl. Add heavy cream and mix until just combined. Place mixture in an ungreased 8-inch square pan and bake until golden, 18 to 20 minutes.

Remove shortcake from pan and place on a rack to cool slightly. Cut into 6 pieces and split each piece in half horizontally.

Spoon some of the strawberries with their juice onto each shortcake bottom. Top with a generous dollop of whipped cream and then the shortcake top. Spoon more strawberries over the top and serve.

Whipped Cream:

1 1/2 cups heavy cream, chilled
3 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon freshly grated lemon zest

Using a mixer, beat the heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, and lemon zest until soft peaks form, about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes.

Whoo! I've been busy with uni stuff lately that I can hardly find time to update my blog.

Ok fine, I lied. Was busy being a lazy bumm. :)

I joined a competition called Project O&O a few months ago and guess what? Am one of the top 10 finalist! WHEEEHEHE!! So far we had quite a few activities such as an organized photoshoot which you can view in Project O&O's profile: Li May's Photoshoot

I look kinda weird somehow. Don't know why. Face problem I think. HAHA

On Monday, the finalist had a coaching session on catwalks at Amber Chia Academy. I went for it and oh my goodness, I had a tough time walking straight. I am a slipper girl. I feel comfortable with slippers. Asking me to strut around with heels was torturing but NEVER SAY NEVER! *epic Bieber music background*

I managed to survive through and have been practicing how to walk properly with a pair of tall heels. Yes lah, practice makes perfect babeh!

Oh, we also had been ~~given~~ i mean, loaned with a Pentax camera. I picked this digital I-10 model and guess what, I loved it!

I played with it using various type of lighting and the quality was good :) Photos uploaded below are all taken with it!

Even though I am always making this same pasta over & over again, I can never get sick of it. I actually improved more & its getting tastier by day.

I am so glad I took up the challenge to try and make Aglio Olio three years back. Today, I can serve this pasta all within 15 mins for a quick lunch just before heading to class.

Before I begin, just so you know that all these awesome photos are taken from Google Images. HAHA!! So, don't go all crazy if you so happen to see some photos that belonged to you because, IT APPEARED ON GOOGLE IMAGES!! :)

Anyway, I am a bit nuts over pastas since I had my first bowl of spaghetti bolognese. That would be 2893465872836423 years ago I guess. I had been looking through recipe books, online tutorials and watching the Asian Food Channel to figure out, how the hell to cook such fantastic pastas.

The following pastas are my favourite ones and would like to master its recipe so I can be a jolly happy glutton everyday :)

The first and the most basic one would be spaghetti with a simple tomato based sauce. The best one I've ever had is from Daves where they have this 'basil, garlic and crushed tomatoes' sauce over. Simply heavenly. Am still trying to figure out how to bring out such wonderful flavors (tomato-ish flavor with a hint of sweet and sour) as my attempt on this sauce taste rather bland.

Another alternative for tomato paste would be with a dash of spice! Yes I am talking about Penne Arabiatta! You get to taste the rich tomato based sauce with a hint of spiciness tingling your tongue. I love my Arabiatta with slightly more dried chilli and a lil bit more cheese flakes on top.

Next, spaghetti Aglio Olio! I have been cooking this for a few years now and kept improvising on its flavor as it is absolutely simple yet delicious! The photo below is the only legit photo taken by me haha! Made that pasta a few weeks ago and I am really satisfied with it. I prefer my Olio to be more garlicky please :)

Next would be spaghetti ala carbonara! You know, I normally can't finish this dish itself because its so creamy and thick that I get full of it easily but, I just found out that the real carbonara sauce doesn't have cream at all! Its basically cheese and egg yolks! Cheese is filling but compared to cream + cheese, I'd rather cheese and eggs so I won't feel guilty of not being able to finish it :) Best part of carbonara is that it has bacon bits on it which turns its flavor around!

Speaking about carbonara, I would love to have a bowl of this too! Smoked salmon with white sauce pasta. This is also one of my favourite white sauce spaghetti, with smoked salmon that melts in your mouth with smooth creamy goodness!

Last but not the least (can't think of any other flavors for now) would be this shrimp and capers pasta! There are two version I know of so far which is the creamy garlic or the lemony shrimp and capers pasta. I came across this pasta when I was dining at Bubba Gump and I gotta admit it, I chomped down the whole plate (big portion, man!) accompanied with some nice crispy garlic bread. I love both style and definitely would like to try making it myself one day!

You can throw in some cherry tomatoes and capers (that tiny green peas lookalike) in your scampi pasta for a refreshing taste

Throughout my whole research, I realize there are two important ingredient to make a good pasta. You need the aroma and the flavor to enhance your dish.

All these while, I have been living on one main life motto. You've heard it a million times, that's right,

Its really common for girls to spend all their money on clothes, accessories, cosmetics and all but not me!
I would rather spend my allowance on good food or food which is worth of its taste and would wear the same old cheap t-shirt I have for years.
Yeah, weird. Good thing is, I don't think I can outgrow my clothes anymore because I have this 'blackhole' ability which is to absorb all food into my system and it just disappear.
I mean, I do go to the toilet to 'ahem' but, i dunno why it doesn't allow fats to transmit to my body (apart from my chubby cheeks!).

Seriously, I finally found my true calling. I found that one and only suitable competition I can relate my life to. I can already smell the food I am going to indulge in while typing this post. Mmmmm.. The smell of ~~glory~~ curry?

Think of it this way, amazing race + food hunting. Goodness gracious, its a fantastic-brilliant-amazing-*lost of words* idea!!

To add on the awesome-ness, this challenge involves iPhone 4, the Finder301 application and Wireless Broadband, all available through Maxis!

Recently, I ate alot. Taylors lakeside now has Subway, Starbucks, FAMOUS AMOS and more to come. I ate alot. That burnt a big fat gigantic hole in my pocket. Wait, I dont think I have a pocket anymore. Its gone. sniff.

Am on semester break now and I had this resolution: eat more home cooked meal. its healthier? Went for grocery shopping and picked all sorts of organic food. Yeah ORGANIC. Need to replenish what I've lost for the past few weeks of misery. Screw the HSP disease!

I woke up to cook my own breakfast, lunch and sometimes dinner. And this cooking streak lasted for about... a week?

Then my mom told me, "May, eat what I cook to make my life easier and that I don't have to share MY STOVE each time I'm about to cook.."

Fine. So I stopped. Kinda. HAHAHAH..

This was my first attempt to cook the korean noodle: jajjang myun.
or in chinese they call it: jang zhiong min

How was it? SURPRISINGLY, It taste good for a first timer (eleh, self-praise) but wasn't spicy enough. Overall, I was very satisfied with it. I ate like 2 persons portion :)

Baked potato wedges. Easy to prepare :) Throw in your sliced potatoes, some salt, pepper, mixed herb, crush garlic and olive oil. Bake for about 45 minutes or so and BAMM!

Filled with tomato chunks in the Olio, I used crispy fried bacon and fried sausage with onions as topping.

well my friend, its actually...

a systemic vasculitis (inflammation of blood vessels) characterized by deposition of immune complexes containing the antibody IgA in the skin and kidney.

Still don't get it? Put it in a simpler way, your body goes haywire and the white blood cells receive wrong signals to attack the good guys in your system (in this case, the blood vessel) instead of the bad bacteria. Blood vessels will burst and there will be internal leakage of blood.

Where does the blood goes to?
It deposits under your skin which will look like visible red spots (like chicken pox) and later turns to darker colour like blood clot.

Effects?
Arthritis! Joint swelling like potatoes and balloons. Most cases involves the kidney where blood will be visible in your urine and it also affects the stomach, intestinal lines which causes bad tummy ache and blood will be visible on your poo!

Why the hell am I talking about this disgusting disease?
Because I landed in the hospital two days ago, diagnosed with this shit. It was 4 days of living hell. My joints hurt so much that I wanted to cut it off to stop the pain. I've never felt such a painful experience!

Right now, I'm still stuck in the hospital. Getting tons of antibiotic injected into my veins, getting blood pumped out daily for test and am waiting for tomorrow. Yup, they're gonna cut off a small piece of my skin to do a skin biopsy. Ewwwwww..

Wheee! Finally uploaded the photos.. woots! Recap; attended 7aste event at Ecoba, Damansara Perdana (PJ Trade Building)

Came in, being greeted by pwetty pwetty girls that looked like angels <3

First step in, the aura was already present all around! First thing I noticed, I enjoyed the music!
They played some South African drum-like smooth music which created a really different atmosphere. A feel good type of feeling :)

I freaking love their bar! Look like some Avatar come to life type of beautifully lit jungle! <3 Sipped some African white wine (oh, did I mention it was free flow? :P), tried some red one as well and had some finger food ala Cape Town style. Sorry, didn't manage to take any food pics coz, HAHAHHAAA I swallowed it the moment it was on my hands~ :D

the DJ working his stuff. Dawson said he is cute. HAHAHA

excuse my camwhoring, can't help it with such pretty background. hehehe

The rest of course, are the necessary part of the hang out. Picturessssss!

In between there were performances by some drum crew (forgot the name. oopsie) which was really good! and dance performance. Didn't manage to capture the photos tho. I brought my sis's tiny laupek camera. hahahaha..

Overall, things were very dynamic especially the way the decos, music and f&b were presented. Had good night with my pals. Oh I would like to thank Bryan Lim for this! :)

Things changed a lot after high school. You don't see your best friends as often as you see them in high school : 6 hours a day, 5 days a week.
You probably gotta wait for months to come to have a simple lunch with your besties right now, when everyone is moving on their path in uni.

People you talk to off and on seems to be a stranger with a familiar face.
People you hang out with everyday seems to be an acquaintance with histories trapped in photographs.

I've learnt a very valuable lesson.

Never take your friends for granted.

Not sure if its too late to realize that but, I learnt that it will never hurt for you to be the first person to say HI even if things are really awkward. Or perhaps even try.
There are many friends I wished to keep but distance, different circle of friendship and time seems to be getting in the way.
I hope my random HELLO! once in a blue moon will still tie the bonds between what i shared with all my friends once upon a time.

Looking at the photos we took since we met are notorious, crazy, funny, UGLY and nostalgic. It feels great to continue compiling photos of us from time to time and then get back the same dejavu feeling 10 years from now.

PS: Sam, if you happen to read this post.. I missed you! Things are a little awkward I gotta admit. It my fault that things don't click because I don't take the initiative to do so. I was afraid. I am starting a new tradition. Home cook meal lunch with buddies for NYE because
1. you don't have to go tru the freaking jam
2. you don't have to curse and middle finger ppl at One Utama carpark for taking your parking or not being able to find a parking spot at the One Card area.
3. you can save lotsa money by not going to some fancy restaurant
4. you get to show off your cooking skills
5. you can wear your house clothes/pajamas

The food uploaded is not according to the days and meals I had there coz I'm too darn lazy to rearrange. A short intro, what it is and HOW TASTY IT WAS :)

1. The pork omelet (non-halal) served with kimball chilli sauce.

2. Dark soy sauce pork leg (non-halal) served with hot steamy rice.

3. Wild mushrooms stir fried with vegetables.

4. Fried bamboo worms. (The fellow twisties look-a-like thingy)
Its crunchy and taste like chicken :P

5.I didn't eat this but guess what it is!!?

6. Pork omelete again! This one taste way better than no. 1 on the list

7. Deep fried fish with kerabu toppings

8. Side dish? Something to garnish your meal. lol

9. Sweet and sour fish

Ewing threw a farewell dinner at his crib. He is now soaking in his hot tub at LA but will be pushing off to Michigan in a few days time. First hand experience with a white snowy christmas. awesome.....!

The team led by Weatherby was made up of researchers at three hospitals in Frankfurt, Germany, and found this results after monitoring for 5 years the health of 200 male subjects, half of whom were asked to look at busty females daily, while the other half had to abstain from doing so.

For five years, the breasts oglers presented a lower blood pressure, slower resting pulse rates and decreased risk of coronary artery disease.

In the last part of the video, there's a short interview with the demonstrators. The guy said that 80% of the residents in seksyen 23 are Muslims. So what if they want to build a freaking kuil there? Its obvious that the residents there are not good or friendly neighbours.

Watched Kaki Blue yesterday and thank god i didn't get chosen for the play. It was fantastic! I don't think i am up to that standard and stamina. hahah! So i was walking around KLPAC and I saw some photography showcase featuring Butoh. I don't know what on earth is a Butoh but the pictures are so... disturbing, haunting yet I can't take my eyes off it. I needed to know what it is because it is quite hypnotizing. So i went back and GOOGLE.

Watched Transformers 2 today. It wasn't that bad NICHOLAS. lol. I find the first one better because this one has too much of lame element in it. Sometimes some weird awkward scene that should be cut out.

Once again, people started shooting her after this picture was posted up on the internet by her dunno what producer or director or choreographer/dunno what lah. LOL

the first picture biasa lah. like taking picture with another apek but the second picture caused a chaos. People with that 99.9% thinking will see it as one of the position with a chair whereas people with 0.1% of that thinking will think she blinked when she was jumping on her chair. Sigh...

There are already cases suspected in Malaysia and next thing you know, my old school which is the current school two of my sister is attending, SMK Damansara Utama is infected!

What i read on the Star newspaper was that the school only shut down one class. What the heck la. Do you know it is contagious? DUH, IT HAS ALREADY SPREAD TO SO MANY COUNTRIES NOW.. Which means the possibility for one pupil to spread to the entire school IS HIGH. why quarantine the class only?? SHUT DOWN THE WHOLE SCHOOL LAH! It's damn dangerous. Better to prevent it from spreading than taking things for granted.

I found a dvd filled with photos i burnt 2 years ago. Photos when I was still 16. Oh mannnn.. I see lots of changes! Not just me but all of my pals. Everyone seemed to change as they grow up. The only thing I didn't change is my perfectly ROUND FACE. sigh, that will never go away. lol.

Come to think of it, in 6 months time, I'll be 19. Like werttttttt?? I barely feel 18 at all now.. I feel like a 16! Wait, make that 12. Hehe. How am I gonna face reality that I am going to be 19 this year? Sigh. It's like telling a 10 year old to grow up as 20 year old the next day!

When you are young, you are always eager to grow older so that you can have more freedom, go clubbing, watch 18sx movies and all.. But as time goes by, sometimes you wished the clock would stood still for you to enjoy everything in the world at that age before you grew any older.

Imagine urself 10 years from now. HAHAHAHAHAHHAA LMAO!
Scared? Lol. Enjoy life as much as you can now! Take lots and lots and LOTS of PHOTOS. It will be a cherished memory when you see it a few years from now. it is the end of the year now. That's about it for 2008.

It has been a great year right?

hmm.. let's review what happened this year...

- All four of us finally took our own path and walked along the road without each other hand in hands.
no matter what, we are still best of friends and together we shall make the best of life. <3

- i took my first step into college. Taylors College School of Communication.

I've learnt so many things, met so many people, made some films, boosted my vocabulary(a bit) and lastly, made some good friends. You guys had made an impact in my life that, I now see things not just horizontally and vertically but in 45 degrees to the extent. You've opened my eyes into wider space.

- I bought my very first dslr. Actually my dad bought for me since i love taking photos NOT just myself but scenery. He thinks I should upgrade my camera and take nicer photos when we go back to Thailand. haha! So happy and thrilled with it, I kept it like the last dime in history.

OH yes, i didn't bother reading the manual and started experimenting myself with all the functions. quite stupid of me but i wanna explore it myself. Until now, i think i am only 12% mastered? LOL

- I joined Hawk Rovers Crew. To continue serving to the community and the scouting movement, I continued learning about scouting and about life. Scouting truly widened my knowledge and helped me push myself to the limit which also helped me keep up with bigger challenges PHYSICALLY. Yes, I am weak physically so I need alot of training. But, it is not all about physical activities. It is much more than that. I am more than happy to continue serving for the community, the scouting movement, the nation and also to GOD.

- I chopped off my long hair early this year. I dunno what prompt me to do so but I was sure I was having some mental problem. I mean, who has the heart to chop off the 3 months newly straightened silky hair and get an image like this?!
I gotta admit, it was a stupid move but its too late to regret it. Actually, I didn't. I don't mind looking silly for the whole year. I know the hair is fugly. sigh. It's okay, sometimes it's ok to have some changes in life.

- I met him. I remember that day clearly. The wind was blowing softly against our faces, the waves were crashing swiftly at the shore. I thought I was gonna die as a spinster. Lol. How we met was like a korean love drama. I am not gonna tell da story here. But i am glad i met him. We are going strong and will always be. Feels great to love and to be loved. He made me understand the meaning of happiness and love very well.
I am happy and contented with life. He is the reason why I wake up with a big grin and to sleep with a smile on my face. Darling, love you! ♥

- I started wearing contact lens. Not just any normal contact lenses. Its coloured. wooot. K fine fine, it is normal. Let me be jakun for awhile. I don't normally see myself with grey or purple or green eyes okay..
At first it took me forever to stick my finger into my pupil. Gotta admit, I was scared. Have you tried poking ur own eyeballs? IT HURT LIKE HELL. Of course I didn't try to poke but I ACCIDENTALLY poked la. Who so stupid...?

I have soooo much more to post but... I can't find the photos. Don't wanna potong steam. I'll just stop right here. Over all, 2008 was and will always be a special year for me.

Before we left the place, they suggested we should go over during the Chinese solstice festive day. That's the day we make the round dough (tong yuen) in nice ginger sweet soup. Randomly, we all agreed.

So we went this afternoon. I felt weird at 1st. I don't know how to communicate with the elderly because all they do is stare. I only know how to smile. But no response on their face and they continued to stare on. Hmmmmm. So i ran into the kitchen, roll up my sleeve and start making!
